Attorney Kasondrea M. Thomas earned her Bachelor of Arts in Studio Arts and Art History from the State University of New York at Albany before earning her Juris Doctor from Ave Maria School of Law in Naples, Florida.

While in law school, Ms. Thomas received a full academic scholarship and earned a CALI Award in Constitutional Law. She served as Senior Editor of the Law Review and Vice President of Operations for Moot Court, where she developed strong legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills. Her appellate advocacy work earned recognition in multiple competitions, including a Top 10 Brief in the Wagner Moot Court Competition and a semifinalist finish with a second-place brief in the Orseck Moot Court Competition.

Attorney Thomas handles family law and criminal defense matters throughout Southwest Florida. She brings substantial courtroom experience, litigation training, and disciplined case preparation to her practice. She was personally selected by the firm’s founding attorney for the confidence and judgment she developed while serving as an Assistant Public Defender with the Office of the Public Defender for the 20th Judicial Circuit in Fort Myers and Punta Gorda.

As an Assistant Public Defender, Ms. Thomas handled a high-volume caseload and participated in criminal trials, including jury and bench trials. Her courtroom work included witness examinations, evidentiary objections, contested hearings, motions to suppress, motions to dismiss, Stand Your Ground immunity motions, competency hearings, violation of probation proceedings, and arguments resulting in judgments of acquittal based on insufficient evidence.

That background gives Ms. Thomas a strong foundation in reviewing evidence, identifying legal and factual issues, negotiating strategically, and preparing cases for trial when necessary. In private practice, handling family law and criminal defense matters, it is a valuable skill to have the courtroom experience and litigation confidence necessary when cases cannot be resolved and must proceed to trial.
